The Horses of Classic Canyon Ranch.

Lisa has had stock horses for many years and after she and Mark were married in 2017, their horse breeding program took off with the breeding of 5 of Lisa's mares to Smart and Shiney, a great reining sire owned by Mark's cousin Lyle Lovett. Since then, new first class horse barns and facilities have been added. Full time resident trainer Adam Miller and his wife Filippa joined us in 2020 and have trained our horses and us since then. Classic Canyon Ranch has now acquired and begun producing many amazing horses. With the acquisition and now production of these new world class reining horse mares and by breeding them to the best stallions in the reining and performance horse world, our foals and horses in training have skyrocketed to be in contention with the best in the world. We now have horses in training with the best trainers in the business including Casey Deary and with Luca Fappani.  Our goal is to have a group of amazing broad mares that will consistently produce the finest performing offspring.

Classic Canyon Ranch has sponsored the National Reining Horse Association, the Texas Reining Horse Association, National Reining Breeders Classic, the 100X Reining Classic, and the Brazos Slide. Adam and Filippa along with Mark and Lisa are now frequent competitors at reining competitions. We look forward to seeing you all there.

The Sky is the Limit!

Brood Mares:

At Classic Canyon Ranch, we believe the brood mares are the key and foundation of any breeding program. The proven performance of the foundation mares' lineage offers a great indication of the potential production we plan to breed. We have accumulated and are now breeding these mares to the best proven sires in the industry. Here are some of them & offspring:

CCR CHEX HER GUNS (Precious)

2021 mare by 15+ million sire Gunner out of Chexanicki (LTE $86,747 & PE over $1+ million)

Precious' competition career was cut short due to injury in her 2-year training during an emergency evacuation of our own horses in 2023 due to a fire. At the time, she was the best 2-year-old we have trained and her career was looking bright. Since then, she has been pasture sound and has produced 2 Magnum Chic Dream colts in 2024 for us, one of which was purchased by Casey Deary as a yearling in 2025. In 2025, she gave us two fillies, one by Spooks Gotta Whiz and one by Walla Walla Whiz. We plan for her to be a foundation producer for us for years to come. We purchased her as a weanling from Toyon Ranch in 2021.

Our Trainers

Adam and Filippa Miller of Miller Performance Horses moved to Classic Canyon Ranch in 2020 after meeting with Mark and Lisa and realizing a common goal, to raise, train and show reining horses to the best possible outcome.

As head trainer and barn manager, Adam and Filippa Miller have been invaluable in helping us choose good crosses, preparing young horses to go into training and then getting them ready for the FUTURITY.

“To us, the proper foundation starts as early as before the horse is born. With proper nutrition and a relationship with well manned broodmares, our foals are handled from very start and are set up to be confident, well mannered and trainable horses.”

As a husband and wife team, Adam and Filippa work well together with a common vision, matching values and philosophy on both horse training and the value of top of the line horse care. As it was the love for reining horses that brought them together in 2018, it is not only part of their life but their lifestyle.
